Testing Capabilities

At COLDfire, we place an enormous premium on the integrity of the testing process. Philosophically, we believe in conducting primary testing on each item we treat and executing testing that is highly relevant to the key end-user customer segments. Furthermore, all testing is done to a statistically significant level.

Our approach to testing is different from many others in that we spend equal time and attention on each phase of the testing program to ensure high integrity output that can be used to make profitable business decisions. Our testing programs are customized in design for each product, but always consist of parameter development, test execution and data output analysis. Sub-standard performance in any of these areas can compromise the entire output of a test program.

• In developing test parameters, we strive to create test conditions (e.g., speeds, feeds, angles, work piece material, tools, etc.) that are as close to real world usage as possible while maximizing the ability to compare discrete sample groups. Additionally, we pre-test each set of parameters to ensure a given test can be successfully executed and the relevant data captured for comparison purposes. On top of this, we routinely capture all general data that might prove useful, pre and post testing, including weight, size, hardness, etc.
• In executing a test, all data output (e.g., cut time, number of cuts, energy pull, required force, etc.) are automatically captured and computer recorded. The same engineers that developed the test parameters and completed the pre-test activities also execute the test from start to finish. We occasionally work with a select group of certified third party labs that exclusively focus on testing services, and that are involved in certain initiatives from the very beginning. Data analysis happens real time so that the testing can be extended if necessary (e.g., a product’s inherent variability is such that the sample size needs to be increased to ensure strong statistical output).
• In evaluating the test output, we use sophisticated statistical analyses to ensure we fully understand the real differences amongst a product, a COLDfire treated version of this product and the relevant competitive offerings. From the mass of data output, we extract the key insights and take-aways and use them to create actionable recommendations for the customer.

COLDfire’s testing services our available on a fee basis, and are available independent of a COLDfire treatment/processing relationship. For certain COLDfire treatment/processing prospects and customers, some or all of our testing services are performed as a complementary service in support of our other service offerings.
